What is “Morning Mindfulness”

We started Morning Mindfulness in Spring 2020, sheltered in our living rooms and kitchens, coming together from bedrooms and spare rooms that had been hastily converted into offices. Like many people we felt a huge amount of uncertainty and wanted to do something about it.

As a mindfulness community we couldn’t practice with others in person any more and instead decided to meet every morning online and live to share a practice together. Since then we’ve run everyday Monday to Friday, shared some incredible practices, gotten to know each other and new people have joined. We’ve built an entire online community from this space.

Morning Mindfulness is exactly what it says. We come together in a live online practice every morning Monday to Friday to join in with a guided mindfulness meditation.

It doesn’t matter if you’re new to mindfulness, or if you’ve been practicing a while. It’s an open space where you can come along and give it a try.

Why Practice Mindfulness?

People come to mindfulness for all sorts of reasons. Maybe you are feeling stressed or anxious and are looking for practical resources you can use to help feel calmer and more connected. Maybe you’ve heard someone else who has benefited from mindfulness and you are not sure where to start.

We often find people join Morning Mindfulness when they are going through a big transition in life, or when things feel a little unstable. Having a regular practice, and a community to check in with can be a huge help.

Sometimes people try it just because they want to give it a go – and see what all the fuss is really about. We don’t mind why you’re joining us, we’re just excited to have you here.

Why is Morning Mindfulness online and not in person?

We started Morning Mindfulness because we couldn’t meet in person, but what we found is that holding online spaces creates an open, judgement free, environment that anyone can join, from anywhere.

We have members join us from all over the UK , and some people who are further afield. We’re also proud that our online spaces are there for people who would struggle to get to an in person session, whether thats due to time pressures, caring responsibilities, accessibility, or even just living in a remote area.

What happens in an online mindfulness session?

We join together for 30 minutes for a guided mindfulness practice. The practice will be guided by one of the incredible facilitators in our community. You can read more about each of them on our team page.

The practice will usually start with the sound of the bell. Each practice will be different, depending on the theme of the month, the facilitators own experiences, and what is going on more collectively for the community. As we are always live our facilitators can adapt their practices to meet the needs of the community at the time.

Often the practices will be centred around feeling into the body, wether that’s through paying attention to the breath, a body scan, or checking in with a heart based practice.

Here are some things you might find helpful to know:

  • You won’t need to turn your camera or microphone on unless you want to.
  • You won’t be made to share anything, although we do love to invite people to share at times, and to join us in turning our mic’s on to say good bye
  • There isn’t a “right” or a “wrong” way to practice, it’s just about showing up
  • We’re not going to force you to come back – give it a try, if you want to join us again you can, if it’s not for you that’s okay too!
  • It doesn’t matter how much experience you have, as guided practices our sessions are great for beginners, but the accountability and community that develops in the sessions is also great for people looking to develop a deeper practice.

How do you access the Morning Mindfulness online sessions?

There are two ways to join us for Morning Mindfulness. You can either book to join us for a one off event, or join our community.

Booking a single Morning Mindfulness session:

This is a great option if you want to give it a try, or you are not sure how often you’ll want to join us. Individual sessions are £5 and you can book into them here.

You can join Friday’s session completely free – every week! All you need to do is join our free community package.

Joining Morning Mindfulness through our Community

All of our Heart members can access Morning Mindfulness every day Monday-Friday as well as a whole range of other sessions every month. Heart membership is £19.99 which means you only need to attend 4 Morning mindfulness sessions to make it worth while.

Once you’ve signed up to our community you will find all the links and information you need to join the sessions under “groups” and “heart membership” – but there is always someone around to help you if you need it.
